Language and Literacy
At Bultum we believe strong language and literacy skills are the foundation for lifelong learning and success. Our comprehensive programs nurture students’ abilities across reading, writing, speaking, and understanding multiple languages and cultures.
English Language Learners (ELL)
We celebrate the rich diversity of languages spoken by our students and families. Over half of NECP students speak a home language other than English. For those making progress toward English proficiency, we provide robust instructional support tailored to each student’s needs. This includes push-in classroom support, small group instruction, and specialized newcomer programs. We use the WIDA screener to identify students for services and monitor their growth annually through the WIDA ACCESS assessment.
World Languages
We nurture globally-minded citizens by offering Oromo and Arabic language instruction beginning in all grades. Through immersive activities, cultural exploration, and consistent practice, students gain vital communication skills and cross-cultural understanding. Achieving multilingual proficiency prepares students for future academic, social and professional success in our interconnected world.
English/Language Arts
Our engaging English/Language Arts curriculum sparks students’ curiosity and creativity through compelling texts and writing opportunities. With programs like Wit & Wisdom and Fishtank ELA, students build strong literacy abilities while exploring diverse literary works that broaden perspectives and allow cultural connections.
